Planet Poker scores a perfect "10" in game selection, with everything from your standard Hold 'Em tables, which are very popular here, to draw versions of 5-Card Stud and games you might never have heard of, including Razz and Lowball. There should be an asterisk next to this perfect "10," however: only the standard games are popular, and you won't find many people playing the lesser-known games. Still, it's nice to know they're here. . .

Another great feature at Planet is its huge pots. While the promotions aren't eye-opening, the pots certainly are. The so-called "Bad Beat Jackpot" is worth an amazing $100,000 and if that's not enough for you, you can enter tournament play for the chance to win $200,000. Pots like these compensate in part for a very uninteresting range of bonuses and promotions. What these pots also ensure, of course, is that the level of play at Planet can range greatly, with a lot of sharks in the crowd.

What Planet does well in its game range and high jackpots it answers with somewhat ugly, boring software and graphics. Compared to some of the PlayTech sites in which players make individual sounds and sometimes even have real photos instead of fictional characters, Planet is ancient. The software tends to be slow as well as boring.

We found customer service and payouts to be above average, with money arriving in the standard two days-usually not more, but never less either. Customer service is also above average, and if you have a problem that needs immediate attention, there is a 24-hour, 7-day phone line you can call. We'd prefer to see live online support, but as of now the only online service you're going to get is e-mail support.

In general, an above average site with an amazing selection of games. Highly recommended if you want to learn how to play Razz or Lowball; not so recommended if you're playing a normal round of Hold 'Em.
