Golden Tiger is a small online poker club, but it's a very good small online poker club, which means it's got a loyal player base that's very familiar with one another. In other words, it's almost like playing with your friends at home, and it makes for a very enjoyable poker experience. And while small usually means "worse" for online poker rooms, we kind of like this one, just because it's so different from the big, glitzy rooms like Empire or Party Poker. There is a good variety of games and Golden Tiger also offers the chance for 1-on-1 games, which can be a lot of fun. Additionally, the players here are friendly and knowledgeable, which of course might be a bit of a disadvantage if you're strictly looking for soft competition, but it does lend Golden Tiger the feel of an exclusive online poker room. Not to worry, however, it's not a VIP club and Golden Tiger is very accommodating for guests.
Among the main bonuses is $30 of "free money," which you get when you make an initial deposit of at least $31. A word of caution, however: you can't withdraw this "free money" unless you've played at least 100 hands of poker or bet at least $300. There is also a daily $250 prize awarded to the top hand of Texas Hold 'Em. Golden Tiger also has a "early riser" special for players between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00 GMT. During these three hours every day, there is no entrance fee and guests can play for free along with members. Table prizes vary, so check the website for details.
Although Golden Tiger is a good all around site, it's generally better for players with a fair amount of experience. If you're a beginner, you'll do much better by going to less of a "members only" type of place; try to find a room with a bigger number of players. But for those of you with a feel for online poker and a distaste for the big rooms filled with beginners, we recommend Golden Tiger.
